The Simpsons Banned From TV

The Simpsons has been banned from morning TV in Venezuela after authorities considered it to be unsuitable for children.

The popular US cartoon about the yellow dysfunctional family was branded inappropriate and pulled from TV. Bosses have replaced it with another popular US show, Baywatch.

Caracus TV station Televen has started showing episodes of the beachside show in the same mid morning slot.

The TV regulator’s said that the stories told through the Simpson family prohibit “messages that go against the whole education of girls, boys and asolescents”.

Televen have not ruled out broadcasting The Simpsons, but will have to determine a better time of the day to show it.

The station is currently showing episodes of Baywatch Hawaii, a later incarnation of the lifeguard show, which started in 1989.

Hollywood Legend Dies

Actor Charlton Heston has died at his Beverly Hills mansion at the age of 84.

His wife of 64 years was by his side.

He began a decline into dementia in 2002 when he announced he was suffering symptoms common with Alzheimer’s.

He had also recently battled prostate cancer, but was in remission.

Born John Charles Carter in Evanston, Illinois, he got his screen name from a combination of his mothers maiden name ‘Charlton’ and his stepfather’s surname, ‘Heston’.

Heston starred in epics such as The Ten Commandments, where he played Moses and Ben Hur where he performed many of his own chariot racing stunts. He went on to win an Oscar in 1959 for his role.

He has also starred in 1968’s Planet of the Apes and the sequel film Beneath the Planet of Apes , where he played a besieged astronaut.

He proved to be the perfect star during the period where Hollywood was filming many religious and historical movies.

He often described himself as having ‘a face that belongs in another century’.

He had a wealth of followers, including Frank Sinatra, who once joked, ‘That guy Heston has to watch it. If he’s not careful, he’ll get actors a good name’.

Apart from his widow, he leaves two children and two grandchildren.

A family statement said: "To his loving friends, colleagues and fans, we appreciate your heartfelt prayers and support. Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life.

"No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession and to his country.

"In his own words, 'I have lived such a wonderful life. I've lived enough for two people'."
