Renoir writes to Monsieur G. In part the letter reads (translated): "It's been absolutely impossible for me to work at this time. I am suffering more than ever. I am threatened with having to stay at the baths in Aix. When one is sick, one has to obey the doctors. I regret this because I could have worked well with your niece." Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Renoir's hand. Complete horizontal separation neatly repaired from the reverse (just touching one letter of text) and a touch of mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition. Renoir developed arthritis in 1907 which severely limited his movement. Despite being ill he did not stop painting - in the advanced stages of his arthritis, he painted by having a brush strapped to his paralyzed fingers.
