Buying Guide - Auctions

Here's a quick step-by-step guide to our buying process. It's perfect for first-time buyers and a good reminder for our regular buyers.

Decide what you want to bid on

There are several ways to find the lot that most interests you:

  • BROWSE upcoming sales or SEARCH for a specific item
  • Alternatively you can also view the PDF of our AUCTION CATALOGUE
  • Attend a free pre-auction VIEWING DAY in order to inspect the lots (alternatively +44 (0) 20 7836 9325 to arrange viewing at the time that suits you)

Register and Bid

There are three ways for you to bid. All are simple and straight-forward:

1. Online (to be completed)
Fraser’s online bidding system is fun and easy! Before you start, you must
REGISTER for a Fraser’s Account.

2. By telephone
If you don’t have access to online bidding then telephone bidding is available to you. We are always here to help.

To take part in a Fraser’s Auction by telephone, please call +44 (0) 20 7836 9325, Fraser’s staff will place your bids directly onto our online bidding system and confirm those bids once placed

We need:
a) Your name and complete mailing address for invoices and lots;
b) Your Telephone number/ email if any problems or changes arise;
c) Payment information

3. By mail
Placing your bids through the mail is quite simple and straightforward, but you do run the risk of losing out by eliminating the immediate interactivity of our online systems as some of your bids may be outbid before you lick the stamp! Please ensure your form reaches us prior to 5pm GMT on the day of sale closing.

To bid by mail, you need to:

  • Browse our complete AUCTION CATALOGUE or listing online making a note of which lots are of interest
  • Download your BID FORM online and enter the Maximum Bid using whole Pound Sterling (£) against each Lot Number
  • Please fill out your Bid Form with the following information

a) Your name and complete address for mailing;
b) Your telephone number/ email if any problems or changes arise;
c) Indicate how you wish to pay for your lots, filling in all sections as appropriate;
d) Sign your Bid Form; thereby agreeing to the TERMS AND CONDITIONS of the Auction

  • Remember to verify your bids because you are responsible for any errors you make! Please consult the Bidding Increments in the Terms & Conditions on the reverse of the Bid Form, otherwise you bids will be rounded down to the next appropriate bid figure
  • Now pop your Bid Form in an envelope and mail out to Fraser’s Autographs, 399 Strand, London, WC2R 0LX, or if you prefer we can send you a batch of Business Reply Envelopes for free postage

Please note:

  • No bids may be withdrawn, and you are obliged to honour any bids placed. Failure to do so will result in the suspension of future bidding privileges.
  • “Your Maximum Bid” will provide competitive bids up to the figure stated. Should another bidder surpass “Your Maximum Bid”, you will be notified automatically by e-mail containing a link to review the lot and the chance place a higher bid, should you wish.
  • The Maximum Bid system makes bidding even more convenient. Simply leave the maximum figure, in Pound Sterling, you are prepared to bid (excluding Buyer’s Premium and VAT) and we will increase your bid as necessary in increments up to the stated figure.
  • The Maximum Bid service is confidential and if we receive no other bids on the Reserve Price then your bid will not increase to the Maximum stated.
