Do you want Fraser’s Auctions to place your collection in one of our auctions for you?
If the answer is yes then you will want to know about our Auction Describing service.

AUCTION DESCRIBING SERVICE

An acknowledgment of arrival receipt is given, or sent, to you as soon as your material is received. Your collection is carefully examined, lotted and described by our specialists. Appropriate reserves are agreed between you and the auction describer before the lots are placed in the postal auction, and confirmed in writing before the auction start date this document is your signed instruction to us to sell at the stated reserve. This process can take up to twenty eight working days from the receipt date. All material is fully insured at the agreed reserve figure whilst on our premises.

Please be aware that Fraser’s retains the right to refuse an item for auction if it does not reach our minimum consignment levels.

CONSIGNMENT AUCTION HANDLING FEES

Lotting/listing fee £10 per lot (sold or unsold)
Illustration Fee £20 per lot (sold or unsold)
Insurance Fee 1.5% (on total realisation or reserve on unsolds)

CHARGES

  • All charges are plus VAT at current prevailing rate.
  • All auction handling fees (commission is calculated on the hammer price) are chargeable if any described lot is withdrawn before the auction closing date.
  • Storage charges will begin to accumulate 3 months after the close of the auction (or upon the date the lot is withdrawn) at a rate of 1% per calendar month for each month it remains on the premises at a minimum of £10 pcm.
  • The Insurance Fee covers loss and damage whilst the item is situated on Fraser’s premises ONLY
  • Advertising - All normal costs of advertising and promotions are borne by Fraser’s. In such cases a special plan should be devised, costed and discussed with the consignor at least 30 working days before the auction start date.

WHEN YOU CAN EXPECT PAYMENT

After your goods have sold successfully final settlement notification listing the individual lot(s) and the price realised for each lot is sent thirty-five working days after the auction has closed (according to terms and conditions 7.2.2) followed by a sterling cheque for the net amount (providing we have received full payment from the buyer). If you wish to know the outcome on the day, you are welcome to telephone the gallery. You will also receive a settlement statement detailing the charges which have been incurred. All relevant charges are normally deducted before your settlement cheque is prepared and dispatched. Should you request a bank transfer; any charges associated with the transfer will be at your cost.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE ITEM(S) FAIL TO SELL

You will be charged the auction handling fees of a Lotting Fee of £10 per lot, Illustration Fee of £20 per lot and an Insurance Fee of 1.5% based on the reserve (as detailed above).
